Sithulpawwa Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist monastery built in the 2nd century B.C by King Kavantissa. The viharaya contains stupas and cave temples that are used by meditating monks. A large number of rock inscriptions have also been found throughout the vihara complex. All these belonging to the pre-Christian era.

The main stupa has been built by of a rocky mountain providing a marvellous view of Yala from the top.
